University task - Web & Interface Design
Project overview
The aim of this task was to create a basic 4-page website in Webflow, based on a given theme of “Order”. How we followed this theme was up to our own interpretation.
My goal with this theme was to create a website that informed users about obsessive-compulsive disorder in a workplace setting. I also aimed to keep a physical sense of order, by aligning elements as precisely as possible with one another.
Tools used:
HTML
CSS
Figma
Webflow
ChatGPT
HTML/CSS project
To learn more about front end development, I created a simple 2-page website using HTML and CSS.
Understanding the user
I determined the target audience and created a user persona before commencing any work on the design. The target audience includes design and tech professionals with an interest in mental health.
ChatGPT
To create filler text for this project, ChatGPT was used to generate large bodies of text relating to the chosen topic. The usage of AI was both approved and suggested by the university for this part of the assignment.
Typography and colour
For the typography, I wanted to choose fonts that were simple and very easy to read, to maintain the theme of ‘order’. I also avoided anything too distracting or out of the ordinary.
Similarily, the process of choosing a colour palette for the website involved searching for muted, undistracting tones. I chose shades of green to create a sense of calm, as well as symbolise growth - tying in with the educational aspect of the website.
Working in Webflow
This was my first time using Webflow, so a lot of time and many errors were needed to figure it out. My goal for this theme was to keep things as simple and non-flashy as possible.
Two of the final pages can be seen below.
Reflection
I enjoyed completing this project, specifically because I have an interest in front end coding. I like seeing and understanding the skeleton behind a design and being able to contribute to the final product.
I feel more confident in my skills regarding Webflow, and was able to problem solve and troubleshoot as much as possible within the allocated project time.
